The Online Library

About the Online Library

The Online Library is a service dedicated to students of the University of London's Distance learning community. We provide online resources and professional support and guidance for our students from wherever and whenever you have chosen to study.
The Online Library currently subscribes to almost six million academic journal titles and a growing collection of e-books. We provide many of the essential reading articles for your course as well as further reading to enable you to enhance your knowledge.
Thanks to the state-of-the-art library search engine Summon, you can search the entire library collection, or refine your search to include results beyond our collections.
Summon is easy to use but we have provided support materials to help you make the most of the service.

Your access

You can access the Online Library 24/7 directly or from the ‘Online Library’ tab in the Portal. Each course has a dedicated Online Library gateway. You will need to request an Athens account to use the Summon search and to access most databases although some courses allow you to use the portal password.
The Online Library is staffed by professional librarians and has an enquiry service which is available between 09:00 to 17:00 hours, Monday to Friday.
Further help and support is given in:
