Teaching institutions have played and continue to play a central role
in the ongoing development of the University of London International
Programmes. Although the majority of our courses have been designed such
that they can be completed through independent study, over half of all
our students choose to benefit from the additional tuition and support
provided by teaching institutions within their own country.
In recognition of the importance of such institutions, in 2009 the University of London introduced a framework which provides a more formal basis for such relationships. This framework, known as the ‘Teaching Institutions Recognition Framework’ recognises institutions that meet a set of specific quality criteria. Today we have a network of 132 centres within our Teaching Institution Recognition Framework of which 75 have achieved full recognition. This network spans 46 countries.
